Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Vandorfer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pedro Penduko!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penduko shoots for a takedown but Vandorfer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Vandorfer throws a front kick that sends Penduko stumbling back into the cage.
Vandorfer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penduko paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vandorfer scores with a shot to the body.
Vandorfer is looking to clinch.

and Penduko counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Vandorfer's guard now.

Vandorfer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Penduko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penduko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Penduko sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vandorfer's guard.
Penduko looks gassed!

Penduko looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Penduko is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Vandorfer has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Penduko is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Vandorfer has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Vandorfer!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Penduko is on top in guard.
Penduko pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vandorfer is keeping the position for now.
Penduko is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Vandorfer wants to get back to his feet but Penduko is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penduko stands and throws Vandorfer's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Penduko goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Vandorfer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Penduko's guard! Nice work there by Vandorfer!

Penduko is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Penduko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vandorfer manages to get himself to full guard.
Penduko passes Vandorfer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Penduko is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vandorfer is in trouble now - Penduko has advanced to mount!

Penduko is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vandorfer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Penduko wants to finish this one by submission but Vandorfer is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Penduko.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vandorfer tries to hold on but Penduko postures up.
Vandorfer really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedro Penduko dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Vandorfer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Penduko. Penduko circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Vandorfer smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Penduko is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Penduko is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vandorfer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pedro Penduko!
