PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Bastard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bastard's choice of entrance music: soul survivor. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Crazy Bastard!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bastard circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones tries to clinch but Bastard moves out of range.
Bastard looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Bastard persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Bastard shoots in.

Jones pushes Bastard up against the cage in a clinch.
Bastard tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage.
Xavier Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crazy Bastard.
Bastard tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Bastard is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

Bastard is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Jones has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Bastard is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bastard gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bastard gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bastard apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bastard paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Bastard didn't expect that.

Bastard is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Bastard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bastard might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jones kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Bastard had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones wants to stand but Bastard is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bastard lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
Bastard looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Bastard is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jones is surviving well by controlling Bastard's body position as best he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jones tries to hold on but Bastard postures up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bastard moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jones has worked his arm free - good work by Jones!

Bastard is trying to get an arm triangle but Jones is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Crazy Bastard will probably get the nod.
That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Jones tries to clinch but Bastard is having none of it.
Bastard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch.
Bastard jumps guard but Jones stands there with Bastard around his waist. Bastard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bastard sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Jones is looking to advance position but Bastard won't allow it.
Bastard wants to get back to full guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Bastard's temple.

Jones is looking to advance position but Bastard won't allow it.
Jones wants to stand up but Bastard has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Bastard moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bastard sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bastard swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones.

Bastard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.

Xavier Jones dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Bastard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bastard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bastard tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Bastard is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Bastard has managed to sneak the leg through.
