PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melving Menhoaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chuck Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Melving Menhoaf!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menhoaf throws a nice looking combination but Jackson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Menhoaf throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jackson's waist but Jackson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Menhoaf off to one side.
Menhoaf shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Menhoaf, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes Menhoaf against the cage but Menhoaf circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Menhoaf lands with a thumping leg kick.
Menhoaf lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Jackson sprawling to the canvas. Menhoaf follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Jackson hang on?


Jackson is rocked!

Menhoaf seems to be looking for submissions.
Oh Jackson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Menhoaf keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Jackson seems to have got his legs back now.
Menhoaf wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.
Menhoaf slows the pace down in half guard.
Menhoaf is pressing down on Jackson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jackson is holding on for now.

Still in half guard, Menhoaf seems content to control.
Menhoaf is tying to control. Jackson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Menhoaf really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Menhoaf lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Menhoaf is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Menhoaf winds up and cracks Jackson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Menhoaf stops Jackson from getting back to his feet.
Menhoaf seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Despite being in the dominant position, Melving Menhoaf just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Menhoaf darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jackson is trying to control but can't.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Menhoaf wants to get back to his feet.
Menhoaf drops an elbow to the side of Jackson's head.

Jackson throws a combination that misses

and Menhoaf counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Menhoaf decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Menhoaf tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Menhoaf.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Menhoaf.

Menhoaf has managed to clinch.
Jackson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Menhoaf pulls his leg out and moves away.

Menhoaf instigates a clinch.

Menhoaf manages to break the clinch.
Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
Jackson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Menhoaf doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jackson counters by clinching up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Menhoaf pulls guard successfully.
Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Menhoaf wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jackson manages to pass to side control.

Menhoaf has taken the fight to the clinch.
Menhoaf can't get the takedown.

Menhoaf tries to advance to mount but Jackson instead regains half guard.
Menhoaf uses his free foot to push down on Jackson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jackson.

Menhoaf shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jackson throws a push kick but Menhoaf slaps the foot to one side.

Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jackson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jackson is looking to advance position but Menhoaf won't allow it.
Jackson is thwarting Menhoaf's attempts to control the position.
Menhoaf is controlling Jackson's trapped leg to prevent Jackson from advancing to side control.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Menhoaf closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.

Melving Menhoaf showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Jackson counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Menhoaf as he avoids it easily.

Menhoaf shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jackson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Menhoaf wants to control but Jackson postures up.

I would just about give that final round to Melving Menhoaf.
Well Menhoaf has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
