PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TJ Myson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Myson has chosen Welcome to the jungle as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jack Scott has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, TJ Myson!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott shoots in and bounces Myson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Myson keeping full guard, as Scott tries to pass.
Scott will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Myson trying to keep a closed guard but Scott is proving a slippery customer.
Myson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Scott advances position into side control!
Scott takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Myson to pass into mount.
Scott controlling his opponent.
Myson is trying to escape the mount.
Myson tries to hold on but Scott pushes him away.

Scott is working for a guillotine from mount but Myson frees his head quite easily.
Myson working to try and regain half guard.
Myson is bucking up trying to escape but Scott cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Myson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Myson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Myson is looking to improve his position but Scott isn't that keen on the idea.
Myson wants to control but Scott is having none of it.
Myson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Scott looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Myson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scott passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Myson!
Scott lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Scott is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Myson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Myson tries to hold on but Scott pushes him away.
Myson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Scott blocks the strikes from Myson.
Myson is refusing to be controlled, as Scott sits in half guard.
Myson misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Myson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Myson wants to control but Scott is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Myson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
No luck for Scott with that takedown attempt.
Scott looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Myson is fending him off so far but Scott persists. Nope, Myson circles away and we're back to standing.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch but Myson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

so Scott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Scott is breathing heavily.

Scott has gone for a leg lock! Myson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Scott's guard.
Myson throwing strikes but missing.
Myson thows a big elbow that misses.
Scott avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Scott escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Myson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Scott is controlling Myson's posture.
Myson landing with the ground and pound.

Scott has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Myson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Myson distracts Scott with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Myson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Scott's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Scott dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Scott throws a head kick but Myson moves out of range.

Scott feints and as Myson raises his hands in defense, Scott changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Myson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Scott wants to control from the top but Myson keeps moving.
Jack Scott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Myson striking off his back but it's not causing Scott any problems.
Myson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Myson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Myson can't keep his opponent in guard - Scott advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Myson is looking for a sweep. Scott is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Well, if Scott is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Myson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Myson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Scott scores with a couple of nice shots.
Scott working over Myson with some ground and pound. Myson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Scott is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Myson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Scott frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Myson working to try and regain half guard.
Myson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Scott goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Myson is on top in guard.
Scott controlling the position.

Scott is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Scott is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Myson is aware though and is defending well.
Myson thows a big elbow that misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Myson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Scott counters with a solid body kick.
Myson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Scott counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Myson is trying to maintain the position but Scott is very close to passing his half guard.
Scott is nestled in close to Myson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Scott is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Scott working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Myson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Scott lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Myson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Scott.
Myson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Myson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Scott dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Myson has his foot on Scott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Scott works his way back into a safe position though.

Scott postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Myson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Scott, into his guard.

Myson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Myson is looking to work some ground and pound but Scott has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Myson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Myson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Myson is looking to stand up but Scott won't let him.
Scott looking for a sweep. Not yet Scott, not yet.
Myson throws a strike but Scott rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Myson is looking for a triangle here but Scott uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Myson tries to strike but it doesn't land.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Scott tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Scott has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Scott is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Myson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Myson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Scott's best efforts.

Scott passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Myson!

Scott goes for an armbar but Myson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Myson.

Jack Scott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Scott is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Scott keeping moving, preventing Myson from controlling successfully.

Myson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Scott looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Myson gets to his feet. Scott looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jack Scott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Scott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Myson defends it nicely.

Myson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Scott napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Scott can't do much from the bottom here.
Scott is looking to regain half guard here but Myson keeps moving and retains side control.
Myson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Scott some visible discomfort.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to TJ Myson.
I think Scott has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
