PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Blicky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hannu Mannisto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blicky kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is The Light That Blinds. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Blicky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hannu Mannisto!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blicky moves in looking to clinch but Mannisto pushes him off.
A combination from Blicky does no damage.
Blicky tries to close the distance and clinch but Mannisto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Blicky gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mannisto is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Blicky is keeping busy.
Blicky misses with a knee strike.
Blicky unloads a knee to the mid-section. Mannisto lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Blicky landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Mannisto ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mannisto no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Blicky slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Blicky wants to pass the guard but Mannisto is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mannisto looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Mannisto has his foot on Blicky's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blicky works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blicky postures up.

Mannisto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blicky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mannisto looks gassed!
Mannisto looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Blicky wants to stand but Mannisto is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mannisto is pulling down on Blicky's head. It's preventing any offense from Blicky, at least for the moment.
Blicky content to stall in guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Blicky postures up.

Mannisto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blicky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Blicky has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mannisto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Mannisto keeping busy on the bottom but Blicky has passed one foot through into half guard.
Blicky will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mannisto is trying to get back to full guard.
Mannisto makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mannisto.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mannisto looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Blicky dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A left lands for Mannisto.
Blicky tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Blicky darts in and clinches Mannisto up against the cage.

Blicky misses with a knee strike.
Mannisto is trying to break the clinch but Blicky has him pressed against the cage.
Blicky tries for a takedown. No joy.
Blicky with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
with the fighters clinched against the cage, Mannisto creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Mannisto gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Blicky with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Blicky drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mannisto gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mannisto breaks the clinch.
Blicky takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mannisto connects with a jab.

Mannisto scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.


Blicky is rocked!
Mannisto wants to pass the guard but Blicky is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mannisto tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Blicky.

Mannisto is looking for a kimura but Blicky is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mannisto to get the leverage.
Mannisto wants to control but Blicky is keeping him busy.

Mannisto is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Blicky pushes Mannisto off and gets back to his feet.

Mannisto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mannisto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Blicky has left one of his arms exposed and Mannisto doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Blicky screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hannu Mannisto!
