Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Katz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Poker Face (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Katz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Poker Face!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Face but Face pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Katz walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Face shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Katz is trying to defend but Face finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Face works his foot free and advances to mount.
Katz is desperately trying to improve his position but Face has a good base and remains in mount.
Katz could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Face looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Face landing punches.
Katz tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Face controlling from the full mount.
Katz can't escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Face controlling the position easily from mount.
Face working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Katz really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Katz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Katz is not content to let Face control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Katz pushes Face off and gets back to his feet.
Katz misses with a takedown attempt

and Face counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Katz is breathing heavily.

Face is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Katz sees it coming and defends easily.
Katz wants to control but Face is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Face is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Katz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Katz tries to get out of the position.
I looks like Face might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Katz is staying active underneath Face, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Face wants to free his trapped foot but Katz is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Katz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Face passes the guard and advances to mount!
Katz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Face lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Katz hang on?
Face raining down shots from the mount!
Face cracks Katz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Face has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Katz's face.
Katz is looking to get to half guard.
Face scoring with strikes but Katz is staying in there.

Face has control of Katz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Katz regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Katz can't escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Katz is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Face controlling from the full mount.
Katz is bucking up trying to escape but Face cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Poker Face dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Face is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Katz's half guard.
Katz is staying active underneath Face, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Katz makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Face changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Katz tries to avoid it but Face manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Katz to the ground. Katz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Face shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Face trying to control but Katz is having none of it.
You get the feeling that Katz really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Katz tries to hold on but Face postures up.
Face sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Katz can't escape the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Katz is working hard here to advance position.
Katz is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Face wants to control the pace but Katz is squirming around nicely.
Face controlling the pace for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Face stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Katz tries to clinch but Face is having none of it.

Face changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Katz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Face decides to stand up, so the ref orders Katz to his feet.
Katz tries for a takedown but Face circles away easily

and Face counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Face gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Katz throws a series of strikes that have Face backpedaling.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Katz looks to score with a jab to the body but Face is just out of range.
Face throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Katz's waist but Katz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Face off to one side.

so Face counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Face trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Face trying to move into half guard but instead Katz has managed to sweep!
Face working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Katz.
Face is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Face tries to strike from the bottom.
Katz wants to control from the top but Face keeps moving.
Katz wanted to stand there but Face had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Katz trying to control the position from guard on top but Face is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Face closes the distance and clinches.

Face has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Katz regains guard immediately.
Katz lands some strikes from the bottom.
Face stopping the sweep attempt from Katz.
Poker Face has got the better of the ground game so far.
Katz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Poker Face showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Katz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Face won't allow Katz to sweep him here.
Face stays in close to Katz's body and controls the position.
Katz is trying to keep Face in close.
Face wants to control from the top but Katz keeps moving.
Katz working a defensive guard here.
Face throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Katz keeping full guard, as Face tries to pass.
Face trying to control the position from guard on top but Katz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Face gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Katz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Face's guard.
Face trying to control the position.
Katz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Face holds on and takes a little breather.
Face bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Katz's guard.
Katz is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Face passes Katz's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Katz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Katz.
Face stays in close to Katz's body and controls the position.
Face cracks Katz with a solid left hand.
Katz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Katz wants to stand but Face is controlling the position.
Face would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Face is looking to work some ground and pound but Katz has wrist control.
Katz wants to sweep here but Face controlling him for the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Katz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Face keeping control of the position.
Face tries to roll over but Katz keeps him under control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Face kicks Katz off and gets back to his feet.

Face shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Katz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Katz is looking for a sweep.

Face decides to stand back up.
Katz doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Face counters with a shoot takedown. Katz fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Max Katz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Poker Face is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Poker Face comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Face has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
