Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Takedowns Tom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Downer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takedowns Tom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mark Downer!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tom clinches.
Downer wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Downer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tom is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Downer stops a takedown attempt from Tom.

Downer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Downer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Tom. That did some damage!
Nice takedown defense from Downer. No joy for Tom on that attempt.

Tom looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Downer misses with the combination.
Downer throws a right hand that Tom ducks under and follows up with a left that Tom also avoids with ease.

Downer closes the distance and clinches.

Downer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tom tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Downer swivels and escapes.
Downer lands a nice shot to the body.

Downer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Downer tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Tom counters by moving into the clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Tom just misses with a elbow thrown towards Downer's brow.
Tom drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Downer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Tom closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Downer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tom is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Downer has escaped the position, nice work there.
Tom wants to lay and pray for a moment but Downer keeps working.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Downer looking for a sweep but Tom has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Downer regains half guard.
Downer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tom is working away from the top position though.
Tom trying to control the pace.
Tom looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Downer wants to get back to full guard.

Tom is looking to take a break and control but Downer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tom in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Downer is trying to get back to full guard.
Tom seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Tom is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Downer has managed to escape the submission attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Downer working to try and regain half guard.

Downer defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tom.
Tom mounts Downer! Really nice guard pass there!

Tom goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Downer turns into him and now he's in Tom's guard.
Downer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tom. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tom lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Downer!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Takedowns Tom will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Downer is looking to clinch.
Tom tries to close the distance and clinch but Downer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A jab from Downer misses.
Tom shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tom tries to move into range but Downer moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Tom takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Downer wants to clinch

and Tom counters with a nice double leg into side control. Downer won't be happy with that.

Tom tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tom has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Downer wants to get back to his feet but Tom drags him back down.

Downer is not content to let Tom control the position.
Tom tries to advance to mount but Downer denies him.
Tom moves into full mount!
Tom moves to the back position.
Tom wants to control but Downer is keeping busy.
Tom not allowing Downer to control his hands.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Downer can't escape the position.
Downer is trying to get back to his feet but Tom has full control of the position and if anything, Downer has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Tom struggling to land strikes to the head as Downer covers up.

Tom working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Downer is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Tom has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Downer taps out!
