The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards lands a nice shot to the body.
Richards throws a looping overhand right but Puckett ducks down to avoid it.
Puckett bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Richards throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Richards thows a body shot but no joy.
Richards connects with a good right hand that stumbles Puckett. Puckett circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

It looks like Kirby Puckett has been cut.
Puckett takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Puckett tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Richards was well out of range. Poor timing from Puckett.

Richards lands a left and a right that send Puckett crashing to the mat, dazed. Richards thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Richards throws a hook but Puckett avoids it easily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Puckett takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Richards is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Puckett throws out a loose jab but Richards uses good head movement to avoid it.

Puckett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Richards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Richards in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Puckett is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Richards doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Puckett crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Puckett's bad books for that mishap!
