Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marius Mousasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Monson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monson shoots in for a double leg but Mousasi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Monson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mousasi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Mousasi wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Mousasi is looking for a sweep.
Mousasi struggling a bit here.

Monson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mousasi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Monson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mousasi is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Monson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mousasi controls the position for a moment.
Monson tries to move to mount but Mousasi blocks the move with his legs.

Monson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Monson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mousasi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Monson off and has taken his back!
Mousasi really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Monson.
Mousasi keeps control of the position as Monson tries to break free.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mousasi is riding his opponent, not letting Monson buck him off.

Mousasi looking for the choke but no joy.
Monson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Mousasi keeps control of the position as Monson tries to break free.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mousasi is controlling the position but Monson somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mousasi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Monson actively working from the bottom here.
Monson looks gassed!
Mousasi wants to stand but Monson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Monson is not content to let Mousasi control the position.
Mousasi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Marius Mousasi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Mousasi scores with the left hand. Monson knows he should have avoided that one.


It looks like Jeff Monson has been cut.
Marius Mousasi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Monson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Mousasi connects with a jab.
A punch combination from Mousasi misses.

Mousasi feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Monson sprawling to the canvas! Monson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Mousasi finish him?!
Mousasi misses with a two punch combination.
Monson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mousasi lands a slapping body shot.
Monson takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Mousasi scores with a hook to the body. Monson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mousasi slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marius Mousasi dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jeff Monson's cut.
That's time! Mousasi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mousasi cracks Monson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


That has opened up Jeff Monson's cut even more.
Mousasi lands with a right that hurts Monson. Monson looks to clinch but Mousasi throws a short knee that drops Monson. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Marius Mousasi!
