Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Turcotte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Dennis Turcotte could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Diego Sanchez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Turcotte steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sanchez.
A big left from Sanchez misses.

Sanchez misses with a wild combination.
Sanchez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Turcotte moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Turcotte keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sanchez.

Turcotte shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sanchez's guard.
Turcotte is looking to advance position but Sanchez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Turcotte tries to reverse the position but Sanchez maintains control.
Turcotte sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Sanchez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Turcotte's head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sanchez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sanchez connects with a looping right hand.
Sanchez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Sanchez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Turcotte manages to avoid it.
Sanchez misses with a double jab.

Sanchez misses with a few strikes there.
Sanchez thows a left - swing and a miss!
Turcotte avoids a punch combination nicely.
Turcotte slips a jab from Sanchez.

Diego Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Turcotte is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sanchez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Turcotte.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Turcotte swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Sanchez is now in Turcotte's guard. A big mistake from Turcotte there, giving up the dominant position!
Turcotte looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sanchez puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

A close round but Diego Sanchez will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sanchez looks to land a right hand but Turcotte moved out of range.
Sanchez just misses with a punch to the body.
Turcotte ducks under a wild hook from Sanchez.
Sanchez tries to bum rush Turcotte with a series of wild strikes but Turcotte uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sanchez might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Turcotte wants to clinch up but Sanchez keeps it at a distance.
Sanchez misses with a looping right.

Sanchez throws a right hand that Turcotte ducks under and follows up with a left that Turcotte also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Turcotte lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sanchez!

Turcotte jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sanchez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sanchez and Turcotte has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Turcotte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turcotte is on top in guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Sanchez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Turcotte doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Turcotte manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
