PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cheetah del Mexico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Buendia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buendia is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Velocity by Tonedeff. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cheetah del Mexico!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Buendia!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buendia misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
del Mexico misses with a hook.
del Mexico throws a shot from downtown. Buendia moves away and avoids it.
Buendia throws a half hearted mid kick.
del Mexico will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Buendia throws a lazy right hand but del Mexico sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Buendia throws a series of punches but del Mexico avoids them all with ease.
Buendia ducks under a wild hook from del Mexico.

Buendia gets caught flat footed, as del Mexico shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

del Mexico postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Buendia is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of del Mexico, into his guard.

Buendia avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

del Mexico looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Buendia scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

del Mexico working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Buendia has passed into half guard!
Buendia lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Buendia tries to stand but his hand is stuck under del Mexico.

del Mexico keeping moving, preventing Buendia from controlling successfully.

del Mexico working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Buendia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Buendia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Buendia must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

del Mexico is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Buendia is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

del Mexico has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Buendia can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Buendia got a little sloppy there for a moment and del Mexico has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Buendia has managed to get both his arms back between del Mexico's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

del Mexico wants to improve his position but Buendia is controlling well.
Buendia wants to stand up but del Mexico is controlling the position.
Buendia is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Buendia thows a huge punch but del Mexico dodges it nicely.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
del Mexico swats away the attempt to clinch by Buendia.

That was a close round but I would say that Cheetah del Mexico will probably get the nod.

del Mexico is trying hard to land a takedown here. Buendia sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Buendia keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
del Mexico looks to land a right hand but Buendia moved out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

del Mexico closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - del Mexico lands in his opponent's guard.

del Mexico drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Buendia dives on top into guard.

Buendia tries to control but del Mexico wriggling away.

Buendia throws a right hand that del Mexico ducks under and follows up with a left that del Mexico also avoids with ease.
Buendia connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Buendia ducks down and throws a hook to the body but del Mexico moves away.
del Mexico looks to land a right hand but Buendia moved out of range.
del Mexico loads up on a big right hand but Buendia slips the punch.
del Mexico looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jose Buendia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
del Mexico shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Buendia but Buendia pushes him off and we're back to square one.
del Mexico on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Jose Buendia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
del Mexico tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Buendia smiles and moves away.

del Mexico scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Buendia makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
A big left from del Mexico misses.
Buendia throws a right and a left that both miss.
Buendia throws a shot from downtown. del Mexico moves away and avoids it.
Jose Buendia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
del Mexico thows a left - swing and a miss!
del Mexico waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Buendia.
Cheetah del Mexico seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Buendia throws a hook to the side of del Mexico's head but del Mexico sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

del Mexico changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buendia tries to avoid it but del Mexico manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buendia to the ground. Buendia escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Buendia lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Buendia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Buendia catches del Mexico with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

del Mexico had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Buendia defends it easily.

del Mexico is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Buendia defends well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

del Mexico is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Buendia rolls with it to try and escape but del Mexico cranks on the arm and Buendia is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
