PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emanuel Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ding Aling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Emanuel Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ding Aling!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aling shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Aling showed some decent athleticism there.
Diaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aling is working away from the top position though.
Aling slows the pace down in half guard.

Aling is looking for a kimura here.
Diaz is looking to improve his position.
Aling stalling away here and it's allowed Diaz to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Aling drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Diaz dives on top into guard.

Aling has his foot on Diaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Diaz works his way back into a safe position though.

Aling is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diaz defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Diaz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Diaz thows a big elbow that misses.
Diaz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Diaz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Aling is in trouble now - Diaz has advanced to mount!
Diaz lands a big shot there that rocks Aling but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Diaz goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Aling is on top in guard.
Aling controls from within his opponent's guard.

Diaz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Aling!
Diaz is landing with some decent strikes but Aling is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Aling wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Diaz.

Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Diaz is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Aling has managed to free his arm - good work.
Aling tries to get to full guard but Diaz has control of the leg.
Diaz is looking to stall here but Aling recovers full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emanuel Diaz dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Aling gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Diaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Aling's guard.
Aling wants to control the position but Diaz says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Aling reverses the position - he's now on top in Diaz's guard.
Aling works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Aling is working for a kimura but Diaz is defending it quite comfortably.
Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Aling's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Aling's back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Aling turns into Diaz and is now in his guard.

Diaz has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Aling should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Diaz has tightened it up now! Aling should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Emanuel Diaz!
