PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Skippy McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and bjj black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Skippy McGee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, bjj black!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from black as McGee shoots in.

McGee scores a takedown into full mount!

McGee is standing up, even though he is in mount.

McGee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in black's guard.
McGee pushes down on black's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McGee throwing shots but black is blocking nicely.
McGee is just content to waste time from the top position. black takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

black working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because McGee has passed into half guard!

black looking for submissions off his back.

McGee escapes and gets back to his feet.
black blocks a head kick by McGee.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McGee jabbing away but nothing is landing.
black is looking to clinch.
black slaps away a takedown attempt from McGee, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McGee thuds a left hand into black's body.
McGee misses with a kick to the body.

McGee fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with black, pushing him back against the cage.

McGee is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. black can't fight it off and eventually McGee manages to take the fight to the floor. black looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

McGee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McGee is looking to stand up but black won't let him.

black had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McGee defends it easily.
black looks gassed!
McGee working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

black is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
McGee not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
McGee trying to control but black is working from the bottom.
McGee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
McGee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. black swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Skippy McGee dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



McGee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
black is refusing to be controlled, as McGee sits in half guard.
black moves into full guard.

black working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

black is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McGee is aware though and is defending well.
black is breathing heavily.
McGee wants to pass the guard but black is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGee passes into half guard.
McGee wants to control but black is keeping him busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

black looking for submissions off his back.
McGee not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McGee tries a head kick but it misses.
black with a lazy takedown attempt

and McGee decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in black's guard.
McGee has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
McGee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
McGee is looking to stand up but black won't let him.
black keeping full guard, as McGee tries to pass.

black is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McGee is aware though and is defending well.

McGee slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
McGee seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down black for as long as he can get away with.

black has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McGee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Skippy McGee dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

McGee lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGee passes to side control.
Skippy McGee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McGee trying to control the position but black is working away.
McGee gets to mount! black was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
black takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McGee controlling from the full mount.
McGee trying to control but black is having none of it.
McGee fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McGee punching from mount but black doing a good job of avoiding damage.
McGee looking to control but black is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
McGee throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
McGee trying to control but he's not successful this time.
McGee unloads with some shots from mount but black bucks and avoids them well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
black is wriggling around trying to escape.

McGee with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
McGee controlling from mount.
bjj black has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
McGee looking to control but black is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
black is looking to improve his position but McGee isn't that keen on the idea.
McGee landing strikes, looking to finish!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McGee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as black is looking to escape.
Skippy McGee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Skippy McGee showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McGee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
