Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arczi Popiolek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Goldberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill Goldberg is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arczi Popiolek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Goldberg!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Popiolek darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goldberg avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Popiolek.
Popiolek trying to control the action but Goldberg is working from the bottom.
Popiolek wants to free his trapped foot but Goldberg is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Popiolek has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Goldberg misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Popiolek with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Goldberg tries to roll over but Popiolek keeps him under control.

Goldberg is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Goldberg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Popiolek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Popiolek moves into the clinch.
Goldberg changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Popiolek fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Popiolek counters with a nice double leg into side control. Goldberg won't be happy with that.

Goldberg should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Goldberg can do anything to dispel that myth.
Goldberg is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Popiolek is controlling him well.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Popiolek's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Goldberg is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Goldberg grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arczi Popiolek dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Goldberg shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Popiolek's guard.
Popiolek is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Popiolek working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Goldberg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Goldberg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Goldberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Popiolek swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Goldberg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Goldberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Popiolek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Popiolek not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Goldberg postures up in Popiolek's guard and throws a big left but Popiolek blocks it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Popiolek shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Popiolek was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Goldberg is trying to reverse the position but instead Popiolek has taken his back - oops!

Popiolek has the hooks in. Goldberg is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Popiolek is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Goldberg rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Goldberg tries to get to full guard but Popiolek has control of the leg.
Well, if Popiolek is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Popiolek is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Goldberg is just riding it out for now. Popiolek eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Goldberg sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Popiolek tries to close the distance and clinch up but Goldberg swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Popiolek throws a right hand that Goldberg ducks under and follows up with a left that Goldberg also avoids with ease.

Popiolek flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Popiolek tries to hold on but Goldberg postures up.
BOOM! Goldberg connects with a massive shot to the dome!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bill Goldberg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Popiolek has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
