Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Petter Eriksson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patrick Davis!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Eriksson.

Davis shoots in and bounces Eriksson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis won't allow Eriksson to sweep him here.
Davis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eriksson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Davis wants to control from the top but Eriksson keeps moving.

Eriksson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Davis passes Eriksson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Davis postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Eriksson to stand up.
Eriksson fails with the takedown

and Davis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Davis gets control of Eriksson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Davis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Eriksson wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
Davis throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Eriksson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Eriksson is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis looking to control.
Davis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Eriksson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Davis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Davis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Eriksson's guard.

Eriksson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Eriksson is tightening it up a little... Davis has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Davis reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Davis taps out! nice BJJ there by Eriksson!
