Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Demetrius Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demetrius Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aldo tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aldo to the ground. Aldo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Aldo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Aldo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demetrius Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Aldo throws a chopping leg kick but Silva manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aldo's waist but Aldo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.
Aldo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Aldo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Oh Silva is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Aldo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aldo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Silva has escaped the position, nice work there.
Aldo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.

Silva seems to have got his legs back now.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Aldo tries to move to mount but Silva blocks the move with his legs.
Silva is trying to improve his position.
Aldo cracks Silva with a big right hand but Silva just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva is working to avoid the ground and pound but Aldo connects with a decent elbow.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Aldo.
A punch lands to the side of Silva 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Aldo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Aldo counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Silva dodges the punch combination from Aldo.
Aldo misses with the combination.
Silva shoots and misses
and Aldo counters with a straight right hand.
Aldo tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Aldo counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Silva is looking to stand up but Aldo isn't so interested in that idea.

Aldo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Silva is looking to sinch up a triangle. Aldo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Silva's body to avoid the submission. Silva has instead reached around Aldo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Silva arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Demetrius Silva!
