PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Kain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Logan Hill has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Kain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Logan Hill!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kain tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hill paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hill has a takedown stuffed.
Hill swats away the attempt to clinch by Kain.

and Hill counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hill.

Kain has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hill off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Kain closes the distance and clinches.

Kain turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Hill tries to bench press Kain off him but Kain keeps the position.
Hill holding on.
Kain gets to mount! Hill was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kain trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kain takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hill wants to hold on but Kain pushes him away.
Hill is looking to get to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kain avoids the attempt from Hill to control.
Hill is desperately trying to improve his position but Kain has a good base and remains in mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kain wants to control the action but instead Hill gets a body lock and reverses into Kain's guard! Nice work!
Hill tries to free his leg and advance position but Kain is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kain scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kain is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kain's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kain's back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Hill's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Hill patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Hill is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kain is defending well though. Hill let's go of the attempt for now.
Hill wants to control but Kain is keeping busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hill is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Kain up.
Kain wants to get back to his feet.
Hill controls the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Logan Hill will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hill tries to close the distance and clinch but Kain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hill tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kain sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hill somewhat.
Kain swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Hill counters by moving into the clinch.
Hill has Kain pressed against the cage, preventing Kain from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Hill drags the fight down to the ground.
Hill controls Kain momentarily but Kain frees himself.

Hill is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kain is aware though and is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hill trying to keep a closed guard but Kain is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kain sitting in guard here, content to control.
Hill is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hill gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hill gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Hill just leaning against Kain, taking a breather.
Hill tries for a takedown. No joy.

Kain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hill fails with the takedown

and Kain counters with a single leg into guard. Hill didn't expect that.
Patrick Kain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Logan Hill.

Hill isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kain stacks Hill on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kain!
Hill is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill struggling a bit here.
Hill gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hill trying to hold on to Kain's head to control him but Kain postures up.

Kain decides to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hill is looking to clinch.
Kain could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hill tries to close the distance and clinch but Kain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hill shoots in but Kain avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kain tries to clinch but Hill moves out of range.

Hill gets the takedown into side control.
Hill tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Hill wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kain, who protects the arm well.
Hill tries to advance to mount but Kain denies him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Patrick Kain will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Hill throws a leg kick but Kain sees it coming and moves out of range.
Kain throws a right hand that Hill ducks under and follows up with a left that Hill also avoids with ease.
Kain falls off balance throwing a combination

and Hill counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kain won't be happy with that.
Kain prevents Hill from improving position.
Kain wants to get back to his feet.

Hill tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hill has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hill is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kain's shoulder. That is not cool.
Kain is looking to reverse the position.
Kain can't do much from the bottom here.

Hill thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hill stands up and beckons Kain to his feet.
Some wild striking there from Kain.
Kain takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Hill shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kain as he avoids it easily.
Kain looks to land a combination but Hill avoids it well.
Patrick Kain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hill drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hill trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kain wants to sweep but no luck.
Kain keeping moving, preventing Hill from controlling successfully.
Hill controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hill trying to control but Kain is working from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kain looking for a sweep. Not yet Kain, not yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hill moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kain throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hill with a lazy takedown attempt
and Kain counters with a series of strikes. Hill will be more careful next time no doubt.
Kain falls off balance throwing a combination

and Hill counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hill.

And that's the end of the fight!
Logan Hill comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hill has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
