PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cassa Nova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvin Klein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nova fails to land with a series of punches.
Klein falls off balance throwing a combination
and Nova counters with a stiff right hand.
Nova tries to score a power double leg takedown but Klein sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nova somewhat.

Klein throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Nova is looking to slow Klein down with leg kicks.
Klein throws a right hand that Nova ducks under and follows up with a left that Nova also avoids with ease.

Nova feints and as Klein raises his hands in defense, Nova changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Klein wants to stand and escape but Nova is having none of it.
Klein keeping moving, preventing Nova from controlling successfully.
Nova loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Klein is looking to stand up but Nova isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nova trying to control but Klein is working from the bottom.
Klein working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nova.
Nova stands and throws Klein's legs to the side, diving into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Klein tries to escape but Nova is in control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nova throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nova takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Klein throws a right and a left that both miss.
Klein changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nova.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cassa Nova. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Klein lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Klein throws a right and a left that Nova avoids nicely.
Klein misses with a wild combination.
Nova tries to clinch there but Klein circles away.
Nova shoots in looking for a takedown. Klein tries to sprawl out of it but Nova keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Klein manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Klein takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Nova takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Nova is trying hard to land a takedown here. Klein sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nova is breathing heavily.
Klein throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Nova counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Klein's guard now.
Nova thows a big elbow that misses.
Klein is looking to stand up but Nova isn't so interested in that idea.
Nova wants to control from the top but Klein keeps moving.

Nova seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Klein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nova. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nova stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Klein swivels though and keeps the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Nova takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Klein lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Nova is looking to close the distance but Klein sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Nova crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Nova is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
