PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Dinero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Mean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mean is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Pantera - Fu*king Hostile. Xavier Mean is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Dinero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Xavier Mean!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dinero throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mean stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Mean closes the distance and clinches.

Mean turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mean manages to end up in side control.
Dinero wants to get back to his feet.
Mean creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Dinero tries to bench press Mean off him but Mean keeps the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mean throws a strike aimed at the side of Dinero's head but Dinero avoids it well.
Mean lands a few punches from side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dinero thuds a left hand into Mean's body.

Dinero drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mean throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Mean really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dinero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dinero pushes down on Mean's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dinero wants to work for an arm triangle but Mean is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Dinero tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mean knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Dinero is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mean is surviving well by controlling Dinero's body position as best he can.

Mean feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Andrew Dinero will probably get the nod.

Mean decides to stand up.
Mean dives in and grabs Dinero's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dinero pushes down on Mean's head and hops out.

BOOM! Mean connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Mean pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Mean looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dinero with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mean tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dinero swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mean takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
