Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jark Reepal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocco Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Escobar has chosen Boom - POD as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jark Reepal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rocco Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Reepal.


It looks like Rocco Escobar has been cut.

Reepal gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Reepal utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Escobar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reepal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Reepal wants to get back to his feet but Escobar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Reepal is pulling down on Escobar's head to control his posture.

Reepal is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Escobar thows a huge punch but Reepal dodges it nicely.

You can see the frustration on Reepal's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reepal is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Escobar is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Reepal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Escobar was well out of range. Poor timing from Reepal.

Reepal throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Reepal smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

No joy there for Reepal, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Escobar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Reepal.
Escobar swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Reepal.

Reepal tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Escobar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reepal, pushing him back against the cage.

Escobar goes for a takedown attempt but Reepal pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A combination from Reepal does no damage.

Escobar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Reepal is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Escobar has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Escobar throws a strike aimed at the side of Reepal's head but Reepal avoids it well.
Reepal is pushing Escobar's head away, looking to escape. Escobar manages to hold on to the position though.

Escobar thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Reepal is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Escobar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reepal keeps working.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Reepal throws the left hand but Escobar avoids the punch easily.
Reepal will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nice uppercut lands for Escobar. That snapped Reepal's head back.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Escobar. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Escobar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Reepal throws out the jab.

Reepal throws a leg kick which misses Escobar's front leg but catches the back leg as Escobar tries to avoid it.

Reepal moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Reepal lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Escobar has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Escobar and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jark Reepal will probably get the nod.

Escobar is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Reepal knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Reepal for a finish.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Escobar is looking to control Reepal but Reepal is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Well, with Escobar on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Reepal is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Reepal is trying to defend against the choke here but Escobar has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Escobar Tightens the hold and Reepal taps out furiously! Escobar displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
