PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arne Weisse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yang Sze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yang Sze will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arne Weisse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yang Sze!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weisse scores a takedown into full mount!

Weisse has hold of Sze's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sze manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Weisse is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sze can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Sze keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Sze tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Weisse paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sze throws a leg kick but Weisse sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Weisse feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sze is looking to take a break and control but Weisse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Weisse's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Arne Weisse.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Weisse, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
