Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glenn Archer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andre Galvao!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galvao misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Archer wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Archer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Archer seems to be working for a kimura but Galvao defends the submission attempt.
Galvao is looking to control Archer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Galvao avoid being mounted?
Archer is trying to control. Galvao wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Archer is really struggling to control Galvao but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Archer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Archer is pressing down on Galvao's thigh, looking to free his foot. Galvao is holding on for now.

Galvao is refusing to be controlled, as Archer sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Galvao wants to control but Archer is keeping busy and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Galvao shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Galvao swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Archer is now in Galvao's guard. A big mistake from Galvao there, giving up the dominant position!

Archer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Galvao is trying to control the position but Archer postures up.
Galvao should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Galvao had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Archer defends it easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Archer is in close to Galvao's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Archer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Galvao manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Archer has Galvao in his guard.

Galvao stands and throws Archer's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Archer tries to improve position but can't.
Galvao advances to full mount.
Galvao thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Galvao looking to control but Archer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Galvao misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Galvao trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Archer is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Galvao makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Archer doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Galvao decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Archer's guard.

Galvao drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Archer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Galvao has Archer in his guard.

Galvao sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Archer can't escape the position.
Galvao has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Galvao postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Archer looks a forlorn figure.

Galvao is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Archer has his hands clasped together but Galvao extends an breaks Archer's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Galvao.
