The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by Souza!
Souza leaves Schweinsteiger with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Souza slips a straight right by Schweinsteiger.

Schweinsteiger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Souza is looking to regain half guard here but Schweinsteiger keeps moving and retains side control.

Schweinsteiger is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Schweinsteiger has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Souza can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Schweinsteiger shoots in for a takedown but Souza shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Schweinsteiger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Souza moves away.
