Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Serega Zagaynov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Zagaynov throws a solid leg kick but Silva takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Zagaynov.

and Silva counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Zagaynov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silva is controlling him.

Despite being in the dominant position, Vitor Silva just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silva uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Zagaynov has time to react.

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Zagaynov falls off balance throwing a combination

and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Zagaynov didn't expect that.

Zagaynov is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Silva dives into side control.

Silva is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Zagaynov's shoulder. That is not cool.

Let's hope that Silva has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Zagaynov is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Silva is controlling him well.
Silva remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Silva cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
