PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Royal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davor Sakic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Royal comes to the ring accompanied by Becoming The Bull. Sakic has chosen Hail mary Tupac Shakur as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sammy Royal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Davor Sakic!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Royal throws a series of punches but Sakic avoids them all with ease.
Sakic doesn't manage to clinch there - Royal circles away.

Sakic moves into the clinch.

Sakic manages to break the clinch.

Royal tries to keep at a distance but Sakic has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sakic has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Royal avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Royal wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Sakic has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Royal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sakic tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

and Royal counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Royal forces Sakic back against the ropes and clinches.

Royal goes for a takedown attempt but Sakic pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Royal looks to score with a jab to the body but Sakic is just out of range.
Sakic tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Royal counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Sakic closes the distance and pushes Royal back into the ropes.

Sakic is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Royal looking to stall.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Royal.
Sakic tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Royal has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sakic avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Royal wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Royal manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Sakic slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sakic connects with a couple of short punches.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sakic stuffs the takedown.

Sakic shoots in and bounces Royal off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Royal wants to get back to his feet but Sakic is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Royal wants to sweep but no luck.

Sakic stands up from Royal's guard - Sakic perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sammy Royal will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Royal shoots and misses

Davor Sakic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Royal's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Royal misses with the combination.
Sakic moves out of range as Royal strikes.

Royal tries to kick Sakic off in order to stand up. Sakic Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Sakic looks up at the clock and then as Royal takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sakic smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Sakic works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Royal is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Sakic stands up and beckons Royal to his feet.

I think Sakic has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
