PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Siqueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Siqueira has chosen Get up Stand up by Bob Marley as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Lawson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Siqueira!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawson throws a sloppy head kick and Siqueira moves out of range easily.
A combination from Siqueira does no damage.

Siqueira shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lawson's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Siqueira is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Siqueira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lawson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Siqueira is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Siqueira counters with a single leg into guard. Lawson didn't expect that.
Siqueira has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Siqueira looking to control but Lawson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Siqueira throws a strike there. Lawson manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lawson is refusing to be controlled, as Siqueira sits in half guard.

and Lawson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Siqueira's guard now.
Lawson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Despite being in the dominant position, Marco Siqueira just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Lawson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Siqueira has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lawson has managed to get both his arms back between Siqueira's legs - danger averted.

Siqueira wants to sweep here but Lawson controlling him for the moment.

Lawson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Siqueira lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lawson!

Siqueira is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Lawson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Lawson!

Lawson wants to clinch but Siqueira slips to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Siqueira throws a head kick but Lawson moves out of range.

and Siqueira counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Siqueira is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lawson is just riding it out for now. Siqueira eventually gives up the hold.
Siqueira uses his free foot to push down on Lawson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lawson.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Siqueira is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lawson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Lawson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lawson tries to get out of the position.

Marco Siqueira comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Siqueira has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
