Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Rapol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Dayley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Dayley has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Michael Rapol's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Rapol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Dayley!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rapol clinches.
Dayley looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rapol has had enough of the clinch but Dayley keeps him there for the moment.
Dayley has a couple of punches blocked by Rapol.
Rapol working hard to break the clinch.

Rapol breaks the clinch.

Rapol rushes Dayley and presses him up against the cage.
Rapol is trying to force a seperation but Dayley has the dominant position.

Rapol is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rapol tries for a takedown but Dayley manages to get underhooks.
Dayley tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dayley throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rapol blocks it with crossed arms.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dayley tries to roll over but Rapol keeps him under control.

Rapol stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dayley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rapol throwing strikes but missing.
Dayley preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Rapol tries to free his leg and advance position but Dayley is retaining full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dayley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rapol tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Rapol shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dayley is trying to defend but Rapol finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rapol shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dayley is trying to defend but Rapol finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Rapol takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rapol seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dayley for as long as he can get away with.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dayley tries to kick Rapol off but Rapol keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Michael Rapol just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Rapol throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dayley avoids a punch combination nicely.

Rapol decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rapol perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dayley wants to sweep here but Rapol controlling him for the moment.
Rapol not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rapol fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rapol shoots in but Dayley avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Rapol misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rapol tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dayley swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dayley misses with a takedown

and Rapol counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rapol throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dayley works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dayley looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rapol stands up and waves to Dayley to follow him.

Rapol shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dayley napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dayley tries to bench press Rapol off him but Rapol keeps the position.

Rapol is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dayley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rapol misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Rapol decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dayley to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
No luck for Rapol with that takedown attempt.
Rapol shoots for a takedown but Dayley saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Rapol counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dayley won't be happy with that.

Rapol decides to stand back up.
Rapol fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Rapol. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rapol looks to land a body kick but Dayley moved away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Rapol showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rapol, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
