PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Takata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Fadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Fadden's choice of entrance music: Walk. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shinya Takata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Fadden!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takata throws out a loose jab but Fadden uses good head movement to avoid it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fadden looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fadden is looking to clinch.
Takata throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Takata misses with a series of wild punches.
Fadden tries to close the distance and clinch but Takata swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fadden on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Takata fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fadden manages to avoid it.
A slow jab from Takata misses its intended target.
Fadden takes one on the button.


It looks like Jack Fadden has been cut.
Takata throws a series of punches but Fadden avoids them all with ease.
Takata is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fadden sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Takata looks to land a right hand but Fadden moved out of range.
Fadden stuffs the takedown.
Fadden moves in looking to clinch but Takata pushes him off.
Takata avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Takata is looking to work some ground and pound but Fadden has wrist control.
Fadden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Takata gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Takata wants to stand and escape but Fadden is having none of it.
Fadden has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Takata knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fadden on the ground.

Takata is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Fadden breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Takata tries for a takedown but Fadden sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Fadden drives through and clinches with Takata against the cage.
Fadden landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Takata wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Fadden has him pressed against the cage.
Takata wants to break free but Fadden has control.

Takata breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fadden takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Fadden uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Takata.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fadden is defended easily by Takata.

Jab, jab by Takata - just one landing.
Fadden takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fadden gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Takata.
This has been an exciting period of action!

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Takata here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
