Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dwayne Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and hakazi yakamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). yakamoto comes into a darkened arena with his song building. peace of mind kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
yakamoto slaps away a takedown attempt from Hicks, before circling back to the center of the mat.
yakamoto is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A head kick from Hicks lands but yakamoto takes it in his stride.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The fighters circling - yakamoto throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Hicks swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and yakamoto is now in Hicks's guard. A big mistake from Hicks there, giving up the dominant position!

yakamoto avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hicks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in yakamoto's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hicks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
yakamoto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hicks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hicks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but yakamoto is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
yakamoto takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Hicks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by yakamoto, who protects the arm well.
yakamoto is trying to control Hicks's posture but Hicks avoids it.

Hicks connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused yakamoto some visible discomfort.
Hicks wants to lay and pray for a moment but yakamoto keeps working.
yakamoto tries to buck Hicks off but Hicks is having none of it.

yakamoto is not content to let Hicks control the position.
Hicks in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
yakamoto needs to keep his hands up - Hicks had a free shot at his head there.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hicks creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hicks connects with a nice short shot to yakamoto's temple.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
yakamoto is staying active underneath Hicks, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hicks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks yakamoto with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hicks is looking to take a break and control but yakamoto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
