Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buck Richell!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richell slips a jab and a cross from Bear.
Bear throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Buck Richell has been cut.
Bear avoids the head kick by Richell.
Richell takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Bear catches Richell with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Richell misses with a jab, cross combination.

Richell gets caught flat footed, as Bear shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Richell can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bear throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Richell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Richell pushes Bear off and gets back to his feet.
Richell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bear circles away quickly and effectively.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Buck Richell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Bear counters with a two punch combo.
Bear misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bear goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Richell pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Richell checks a low kick from Bear.
Bear throws a nice looking combination but Richell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Bear takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Richell's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Richell duly obliges.

Richell walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Bear motions for Richell to come forward. Bear throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Some bone on bone action there as Richell checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Bear counters with a left to the body.

Bear shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Bear postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Richell looks a forlorn figure.

Bear has control of Richell's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Richell regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Bear scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Richell?

Richell's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Bear throwing strikes here but Richell is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Bear misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Richell's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bear is taking a breather. Richell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Bear has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Richell is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bear scores with a couple of nice shots.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Bear here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Well Bear has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
