Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stanton Friedmon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoyt Jurgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jurgensen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Sgt Barry Sadler - Ballad of the Green Beret. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Jurgensen is fighting off a takedown attempt but Friedmon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jurgensen to the mat. Jurgensen regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Friedmon is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Friedmon gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Friedmon gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Friedmon apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Friedmon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jurgensen avoids it really well and circles away.
Friedmon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jurgensen tries to avoid it but Friedmon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jurgensen to the ground. Jurgensen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stanton Friedmon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jurgensen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Friedmon stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stanton Friedmon.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Friedmon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
