PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Blah Blah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dai Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blah comes to the ring accompanied by Egg. The crowd seem to be enjoying Machida's choice of entrance music: Do The Ayatollah. Dai Machida is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Dai Machida!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Machida misses with a series of wild punches.

Machida has Blah up against the ropes in a clinch.
Machida is pressed up against the ropes. Blah has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Machida down to the mat. Machida avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Machida gets a takedown into half guard.
Machida prevents Blah from improving his position.

Blah is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Machida pulls his head out easily.

Machida looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Machida must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Blah is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Blah swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Machida feints and then cracks Blah's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Blah down.
Blah is breathing heavily.
Machida avoids the body shot from Blah.

Blah falls off balance throwing a combination
and Machida counters with a nice uppercut.
Machida keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Blah.

Machida takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Blah misses with a wild body shot.
Machida lands a jab-cross combination.
Machida fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Blah with a poor takedown
and Machida counters with a two punch combo.
Machida jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Machida throws a series of punches but Blah moves out of range.
Blah throws a lazy right hand but Machida sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Machida steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Blah.
Blah misses with a takedown
and Machida counters with a three punch combo that has Blah backing up. Blah nods at Machida to acknowledge the strikes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blah Blah. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Machida bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Blah's head backwards.
Blah throws out a loose jab but Machida uses good head movement to avoid it.
Machida connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Blah's hands.
Machida lands a body shot.

Machida closes the distance and clinches.

Machida breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Blah gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Machida connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Machida comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Blah. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Blah on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Blah dodges the punch combination from Machida.
Blah has his takedown stuffed
and Blah takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Machida lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Blah moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Machida misses with a few strikes there.
Blah looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The fighters circling - Blah throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Machida clinches.
Machida gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Blah.
Machida stops a takedown attempt from Blah.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blah wants to break free but Machida has control.

Machida breaks the clinch.

Machida closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Blah is not content to let Machida control the position.
Blah tries to bench press Machida off him but Machida keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dai Machida dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Machida moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Blah misses with an uppercut. Machida saw that one coming.
Blah Blah is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Blah throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Blah misses with a double jab
and Blah takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Machida lands a jab to Blah's midsection.
Blah has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Blah there as he acknowledges the shot.
Machida avoids the body shot from Blah.
Blah doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Machida counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Blah!
Machida scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Blah is working to get back to half guard.
Machida landing strikes, looking to finish!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Blah is desperately trying to improve his position but Machida has a good base and remains in mount.

Machida lands a big shot there that rocks Blah but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Blah bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
