PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Norman Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dusty Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perry has chosen Drop The World by Lil Wayne and Eminem as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dusty Perry!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Perry scores with a kick to the midsection.
Reeves fails with the takedown.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reeves shoots in but no luck this time.

Reeves dives in and grabs Perry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Perry pushes down on Reeves's head and hops out.

Reeves shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Perry sprawls well. Perry wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Reeves gets slowly back to his feet.

Dusty Perry is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Perry.
Perry lands with a slapping head kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Perry throws a combination. Reeves tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Perry swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Reeves takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Norman Reeves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Perry throws a leg kick which misses Reeves's front leg but catches the back leg as Reeves tries to avoid it.

Perry lands a head kick!
A slapping leg kick lands for Perry.
Perry is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Perry scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A solid leg kick lands there for Perry.
Perry delivers a nice body kick.
Perry stuffs the takedown.
Perry lands with a thumping leg kick.
Perry throws a head kick that half lands.
Perry misses with a double jab.
Reeves shoots in and drives through. Perry sprawls well.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Reeves crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Perry - the referee stops the clock and Reeves gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Perry. Reeves manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Perry throws a nice inside leg kick.

Reeves shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Perry manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Reeves missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Reeves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Perry wants to stand and escape but Reeves is having none of it.

Reeves thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Reeves slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Perry avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Reeves.

Reeves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Reeves is looking to take a break and control but Perry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reeves in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Reeves could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Reeves is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Perry has escaped the position, nice work there.

Perry throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Reeves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Perry.
Reeves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Perry as he jumps to the side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dusty Perry dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A nice inside leg kick there by Perry. That's going to slow Reeves down.

Reeves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Perry sprawls well initially but Reeves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perry is trying to stand.
Perry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reeves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reeves moves nicely into side control.

Reeves wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Perry, who protects the arm well.
Perry is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Reeves is controlling him well.
Reeves has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Perry!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Reeves has hold of Perry's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Perry manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Reeves throws some wild stikes that Perry manages to avoid easily.
Perry is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Perry wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Reeves.
Reeves thowing shots but they're missing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Reeves working for a submission but Perry is keeping him at bay.

Reeves goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Perry is on top in guard.

Perry avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Reeves wants to sweep here but Perry controlling him for the moment.

Perry decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Reeves, up you get!
Reeves throws a head kick that misses
and Perry counters with a good low kick that Reeves was not able to check.
Perry is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Perry throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Perry thows a body kick. Reeves tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Reeves is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Reeves takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Perry lands with a slapping head kick.

Reeves shoots and misses
and Perry counters with a head kick.

Reeves gets a takedown into half guard.
Reeves wants to free his trapped foot but Perry is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Reeves stops Perry from getting back to his feet.

Reeves maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Perry could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Reeves has cracked it and Perry is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Reeves!
