These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies throws a body punch but Thiele moves out of range.
Thiele lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Davies circles away quickly and effectively.
Thiele looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Thiele scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Davies knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thiele on the ground.
Davies takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Thiele creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Davies sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Davies is not content to let Thiele control the position.

Thiele postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Davies parries the strikes from Thiele easily there. Thiele is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Davies to escape.
Thiele wants to control but Davies is keeping him busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Davies walks into a jab.
Davies is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thiele.
Thiele scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Davies is breathing heavily.

Davies dodges the ground and pound from Thiele.

Davies is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Davies is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Thiele couldn't care less - he's delighted!
