The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Whittaker instigates a clinch.
Smith is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Whittaker gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Smith can't get the takedown.
Smith keeps control of Whittaker as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Whittaker fails to land the takedown.
Good leg kick by Smith there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Whittaker tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Whittaker to the ground. Whittaker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Whittaker tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.

Whittaker tries to stall but Smith uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Smith looking for a takedown.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Smith is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Whittaker is keeping busy.
Whittaker prevents the takedown attempt.
