PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clarence Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Reis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Blood Brothers. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Clarence Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Reis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thomas stuffs the takedown.
Reis fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Reis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Thomas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Thomas stalling.
Thomas stalling away here and it's allowed Reis to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Thomas wants to pass the guard but Reis is keeping the position.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Reis keeps moving.

Thomas drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Reis dives on top into guard.
Thomas keeping moving, preventing Reis from controlling successfully.

Thomas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Thomas controls Reis momentarily but Reis frees himself.
Thomas wants to sweep but no luck.
Reis is looking to stand up but Thomas won't let him.
Thomas throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Thomas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas keeping moving, preventing Reis from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Reis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Thomas counters by moving into the clinch.

Thomas has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Reis clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thomas looks gassed!
Reis manages to reverse the position and now he's in Thomas's guard. Nice work there by Reis.
Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thomas throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Reis makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Reis pushing down on Thomas's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thomas can do anything to dispel that myth.
Reis blocks the strikes from Thomas.

Reis seems to be working for a kimura but Thomas defends the submission attempt.
Thomas is trying to get back to full guard.
Reis passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Thomas!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thomas is working to get back to half guard.
Reis wants to stand but Reis is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Thomas is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Reis is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Thomas is in real trouble.
Thomas is really stuck here.
Thomas trying to control the hands but Reis won't let him.
Thomas tries to roll but Reis sticks to his back.
Thomas avoids the strikes from Reis.
Thomas looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Thomas is looking to escape here. Oh dear - Reis has locked on a rear naked choke here! Thomas is tapping out! The fight is over!
