Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieminen checks a low kick from Smythe.
Smythe ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Smythe looks for the body kick but Nieminen saw that one coming.
Smythe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Not John Smythe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smythe is looking to score with low kicks.
Nieminen shoots in looking for a takedown. Smythe tries to sprawl out of it but Nieminen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smythe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nieminen throws a right and a left that both miss.
Smythe misses with a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smythe throws a hook but Nieminen avoids it easily.
Smythe throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Nieminen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Smythe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nieminen to the mat! Nieminen manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smythe wants to control from the top but Nieminen keeps moving.

Nieminen pulls Smythe in close to his closed guard and prevents Smythe from doing any damage or advancing position.

Smythe fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Nieminen is out of range.

Smythe tries to work over Nieminen's front leg with a kick but Nieminen checks it.

Smythe doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nieminen counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Smythe has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
