PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Shelter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seb Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter has chosen Tequila-Knock you out as his entrance music. Seb Carter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Anderson Shelter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Seb Carter!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shelter is looking to clinch.
Carter throws a right and a left that Shelter avoids nicely.
Carter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Shelter.
Left hook, right uppercut from Carter.
Shelter throws a half hearted mid kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Shelter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shelter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Shelter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Carter pushes Shelter off but Shelter dives into side control.
Carter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shelter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carter keeps working.
Carter can't do much from the bottom here.

Shelter looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Carter is not content to let Shelter control the position.
Shelter taking a break here but Carter is having none of it and regains half guard.
Carter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shelter tries to pass the half guard into mount. Carter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Shelter is working hard here to advance position.

Shelter is thwarting Carter's attempts to control the position.
Shelter prevents Carter from improving his position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Carter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shelter circles away quickly and effectively.
Carter misses with a series of wild punches.
Seb Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Shelter has Carter up against the cage in a clinch.
Carter is trying to break free.
Carter letting Shelter take a breather here.
Shelter lands an elbow that stopped Carter in his tracks for a moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Shelter pulls guard.

Shelter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Carter would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Carter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Shelter wants to sweep but no luck.
Carter looking to pass the guard.
Shelter looking for a sweep. Not yet Shelter, not yet.
Carter postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carter stands up and waves to Shelter to follow him.
Carter throws a nice looking combination but Shelter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Shelter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Carter throws a right and a left that Shelter avoids nicely.
Carter lands a nice shot to the body.
Shelter avoids a punch combination nicely.
Shelter attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Shelter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Carter has had enough of the clinch but Shelter keeps him there for the moment.
Carter wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Shelter jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carter walks away with a smile on his face. Shelter gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Carter scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Shelter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Carter is trying to defend but Shelter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Shelter prevents Carter from improving his position.

Shelter is working for a kimura but Carter is defending it quite comfortably.
Shelter prevents Carter from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter wants to improve his position but Shelter is controlling well.
Shelter is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Shelter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Shelter instigates a clinch.
Shelter can't get the takedown.
Shelter lands an elbow just above Carter 's eye.

Shelter gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Carter wants to get back to his feet.
Carter is breathing heavily.
Shelter is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Shelter wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shelter in particular looking to stall.
Carter is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shelter is taking a breather. Carter says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Shelter seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Carter taking some punishment here, with Shelter in his half guard.
Shelter drops an elbow to the side of Carter's head.
Carter has a hand on Shelter's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Shelter takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Shelter is landing with some decent strikes but Carter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Carter keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Shelter has hold of Carter's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Carter manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Shelter looking to control and managing it successfully.

Shelter looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Carter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shelter fails to land the takedown.
Carter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Shelter moves into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Carter's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Shelter decides to pull guard.
Shelter throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Shelter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Shelter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Carter stands and steps away. Shelter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Shelter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Carter lands a glancing blow to the side of Shelter's head.
Carter scores with a one two! Shelter had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by Shelter.
Carter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carter catches Shelter with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Carter tries to keep at a distance but Shelter has taken the fight into the clinch.

Carter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carter connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Shelter closes the distance and pushes Carter back into the cage.
Carter tries to break the clinch but Shelter is controlling the position.
Shelter looking for a takedown.

Shelter manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Shelter has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though.
Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Shelter looking to control but Carter passes into half guard.
Shelter is looking to control Carter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shelter avoid being mounted?
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Shelter tries to get to full guard but Carter has control of the leg.

Carter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Carter is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Shelter manages to get to full guard.
Carter wants to control from the top but Shelter keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Shelter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Anderson Shelter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Carter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shelter is proving hard to escape from.

Shelter has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Carter should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Shelter has tightened it up now! Carter should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
