PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ditte Sebastien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Shifflett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ditte Sebastien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Shifflett!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shifflett closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sebastien did well to prevent Shifflett getting side control.
Shifflett is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sebastien!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sebastien is trying to stand up.

Shifflett is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sebastien to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sebastien shrugs it off.

Sebastien takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Sebastien is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Shifflett is working for a guillotine from mount but Sebastien frees his head quite easily.
Shifflett connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Sebastien defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Shifflett.
Shifflett should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sebastien is trying to stand up.

Shifflett looking to secure an arm triangle but Sebastien defends it well.

Sebastien defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Shifflett.

Shifflett in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Sebastien is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Sebastien is trying to escape the mount.
Shifflett with a couple of short strikes.
Shifflett with shots to the head and body - Sebastien looks very uncomfortable down there.

Shifflett gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Shifflett closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Sebastien stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Sebastien throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice straight punches there by Sebastien. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sebastien.
A head kick from Sebastien lands but Shifflett takes it in his stride.
Shifflett misses with a wild combination.
Sebastien connects with a nice looking jab.
Sebastien throws a looping overhand right but Shifflett ducks down to avoid it.
Shifflett ducks under a wild hook from Sebastien.
Some wild striking there from Shifflett.
Shifflett lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Sebastien fails with the takedown

and Shifflett moves into the clinch.
Shifflett tries a knee to the head but Sebastien blocks it.
Sebastien tries to break free but Shifflett pushes him back against the cage.
Sebastien tries to circle away but Shifflett has him pinned against the cage.

Shifflett gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Sebastien regains guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shifflett trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sebastien wants to get back to his feet but Shifflett is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Shifflett with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Shifflett slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Shifflett throwing strikes but missing.

Sebastien is working an open guard so Shifflett takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sebastien circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shifflett misses with a two punch combination.
Sebastien lands a head shot.

Sebastien showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shifflett.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Shifflett staying out of range there.
Sebastien throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Shifflett decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sebastien's guard.
Shifflett missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Shifflett wants to control from the top but Sebastien keeps moving.
Sebastien avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Shifflett stops Sebastien from standing up.
Shifflett passes Sebastien's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shifflett seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sebastien does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Shifflett is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sebastien looks like he's trying to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Shifflett dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Sebastien misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sebastien tries a head kick but it misses.

Shifflett gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Shifflett keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sebastien's efforts to push away.
Shifflett tries for a takedown. No joy.
Sebastien tries to break the clinch but Shifflett is controlling the position.

Sebastien is fighting off a takedown attempt but Shifflett is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sebastien to the mat. Sebastien regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Shifflett drops back looking for a leg! Sebastien is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sebastien manages to kick Shifflett off! Shifflett jumps back into Sebastien's guard.

Michael Shifflett has got the better of the ground game so far.
Shifflett stopping the sweep attempt from Sebastien.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sebastien wants to improve his position but instead Shifflett has moved into half guard.

Sebastien is refusing to be controlled, as Shifflett sits in half guard.

Shifflett is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sebastien is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
