PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Everson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klein East (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). East has chosen Cold as Ice- M.O.P. as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rusty Everson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Klein East!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
East wants to clinch up but Everson keeps it at a distance.

Everson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Everson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Everson wants to control the pace but East is squirming around nicely.
Everson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
East tries to lock up and control but Everson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Everson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as East sprawls well. East wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Everson gets slowly back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from East lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Everson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Everson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Klein East showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Everson throws an overhand right that lands on East's shoulder, as East tries to avoid the shot.

East throws a front kick aimed at Everson's knee but Everson avoids it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Everson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Everson there as he acknowledges the shot.

East wants to improve his position but Everson is controlling well.
East moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Everson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Everson throws a strike but East rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Everson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Everson scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Everson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. East manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

East pushes Everson off and scrambles back to his feet.

East has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
East crunches a lovely knee into Everson's ribcage.

East throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Everson blocks it with crossed arms.

Klein East comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think East has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
