PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kareem Jabbar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Holmn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jabbar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is 54-56 what`s my number. Samuel Holmn looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kareem Jabbar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Samuel Holmn!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Holmn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jabbar's guard.
Jabbar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Holmn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Jabbar controlling Holmn's posture.
Jabbar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jabbar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Holmn is controlling him.
Jabbar trying to keep a closed guard but Holmn is proving a slippery customer.
Holmn makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Jabbar tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Holmn won't allow Jabbar to get back to his feet.
Jabbar wants to sweep but no luck.
Holmn postures up and lands a big shot to Jabbar's brow.
Jabbar controls Holmn momentarily but Holmn frees himself.
Jabbar is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Jabbar wants to get back to his feet but Holmn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jabbar is breathing heavily.
Holmn tries to free his leg and advance position but Jabbar is retaining full guard.

Jabbar is trying to keep Holmn in close.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Holmn wants to stand but Jabbar is controlling his posture from full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Holmn swings for the body but Jabbar moves out of range.
Jabbar tries to close the distance and clinch but Holmn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jabbar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jabbar plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Holmn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Holmn tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Holmn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Holmn controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Holmn decides to stand up.
Holmn clinches but Jabbar breaks the clinch
and Jabbar counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Holmn is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Holmn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Holmn breaks from Jabbar's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Holmn throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Jabbar because Holmn loaded up on that one.
Jabbar is desperately trying to improve his position but Holmn has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jabbar looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.
Jabbar tries to lock up and control but Holmn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Jabbar regains half guard.
Jabbar pushes Holmn off but Holmn dives into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jabbar is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Holmn asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Holmn is looking to take a break and control but Jabbar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Holmn wants to stand but Jabbar is controlling his arm.
Jabbar is trying to get back to his feet.

Holmn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jabbar, who protects the arm well.
Jabbar is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Holmn has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Holmn misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Holmn shoots in for a takedown but Jabbar shows good takedown defense.
Jabbar plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jabbar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel Holmn dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Holmn shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Holmn was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Jabbar wants to control but Holmn is having none of it.
Jabbar is trying to stand up.
Jabbar is looking to improve his position but Holmn isn't that keen on the idea.
Holmn should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Holmn goes for an armbar but Jabbar turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jabbar.
Holmn keeping moving, preventing Jabbar from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Holmn wants to improve his position but instead Jabbar has moved into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jabbar keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Holmn has one foot on Jabbar's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Jabbar clinches but Holmn breaks the clinch

and Holmn moves into the clinch.

Holmn is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jabbar gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Jabbar lands an elbow inside.

Holmn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Holmn drives through with a takedown into guard.

Holmn gets to his feet. Jabbar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jabbar tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Holmn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Jabbar landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Jabbar lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Holmn has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jabbar is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jabbar has Holmn pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Holmn manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Holmn tries to pull guard but Jabbar holds him up against the cage and eventually Holmn drops back down to his feet.
Kareem Jabbar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Holmn.
Jabbar lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Holmn can't break the clinch.
Holmn jumps guard but Jabbar stands there with Holmn around his waist. Holmn gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jabbar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Holmn counters with a shoot takedown. Jabbar fights it but they end up in guard.
Jabbar is pulling down on Holmn's head to control his posture.
Jabbar wants to stand but Holmn is controlling the position.
Jabbar controls Holmn momentarily but Holmn frees himself.
Jabbar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Holmn is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Holmn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jabbar is looking to clinch but Holmn is avoiding it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jabbar tries to clinch there but Holmn circles away.
Kareem Jabbar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jabbar tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Holmn counters by moving into the clinch.
Holmn is trying to stall.
Jabbar connects with a knee to the head.
Jabbar lands a big knee to the head and Holmn goes down! Jabbar pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kareem Jabbar!
