Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nolan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vaughn House (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nolan Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vaughn House!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows House to score an easy takedown into full guard.
House throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

House stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Smith gets caught flat footed, as House shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
House won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
House trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

House drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith wants to control from the top but House keeps moving.

House is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it.
House tries to improve position but can't.

House seems a little lost for a moment, as Smith dominates the positioning.

House is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Smith off and has taken his back!
House doesn't have the hooks in and Smith manages to turn into his guard.
Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Smith stands up from House's guard - Smith perhaps looking for a knockout.

House doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
House has hold of Smith's hands but Smith slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Smith moves into full mount! House won't be happy about that!
Smith content just to control the position here.

Smith controlling the pace for now.
House holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Smith tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Smith trying to control but House is having none of it.
House flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


House slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
House shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but House sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith fails with the takedown

and House counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
House is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Smith wants to control but House is keeping busy and won't allow it.

House is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

House is trying to control the action in half guard but Smith is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. House lands a nice short elbow.

House is trying to work for a kimura but Smith is defending well.
Smith wants to control but House is keeping busy.
House seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smith does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Smith wants to get back to full guard.
House throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

House is trying to work for a kimura but Smith is defending well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
House scores with a kick to the body.

Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. House manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

House has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Vaughn House showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

House goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Smith rolls with the submission and now he's on top in House's guard! Nice work there by Smith!

House has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

Smith manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

House drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smith pulls his leg out and moves away.
Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from House. House gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
House can't do much from the bottom here.

Smith moves into full mount!
House is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action.
Smith sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
House slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

House looking for submissions off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nolan Smith.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
