The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a jab when Vera was well out of range.
Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Vera gets a clinch.

Vera gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Vera creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Silva blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Vera is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Silva is defending well for now.

Vera is pushing Silva up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Vera takes a little break here. Silva wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Vera creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Silva sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Vera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vera throwing strikes here but Silva is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Vera is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Silva is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Silva flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Vera anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Silva and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Vera slips an arm under Silva chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Vera has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Vera is squeezing on Silva like an anaconda would it's prey. Silva fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Austin Vera!
