PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Castellaneta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King Kong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Castellaneta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, King Kong!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castellaneta dodges the punch combination from Kong.
Kong looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Castellaneta tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kong blocks a head kick by Castellaneta.
Kong fails to land with a series of punches.
Kong misses with a low kick.
Kong rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Castellaneta moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Castellaneta ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kong moves away.
Kong moves away from the strike by Castellaneta.
Castellaneta throws a head kick that misses.
Kong throws a head kick that misses.
Kong lands a high kick!
Kong is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A slow jab from Castellaneta misses its intended target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Castellaneta chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kong can pounce on him.
Castellaneta throws a nice looking combination but Kong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kong avoids the head kick by Castellaneta.
Castellaneta throws a sloppy head kick and Kong moves out of range easily.
Kong misses with a double jab

so Castellaneta counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Castellaneta trying to control but Kong is working from the bottom.
Castellaneta not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Castellaneta with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Castellaneta is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Castellaneta cracks Kong with a solid left hand.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Castellaneta's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Castellaneta. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Castellaneta keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kong's head.

Castellaneta drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Castellaneta seems to have locked his on tight now - Kong screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Castellaneta, as he picks up the win!
