PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marvin Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paavali Pietari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harris comes to the cage accompanied by Walk. Pietari has chosen Pendulum - Slam as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pietari is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Horrible takedown by Pietari or perhaps it was just good defense by Harris which made him look bad.

and Pietari counters with a big head kick but Harris shrugs it off.

Nice sprawl there from Harris as Pietari shoots in.
Pietari slips a jab and a cross from Harris.
Pietari dives in and grabs Harris's left leg, looking for a takedown. Harris pushes down on Pietari's head and hops out.
Harris leaves Pietari with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Harris misses with a double jab.

and Pietari counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Harris is lucky that one didn't land flush.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pietari is defended easily by Harris.

Harris throws a nice looking combination but Pietari bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Pietari lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

and Harris counters with a shoot takedown. Pietari fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Pietari is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pietari is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Pietari is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Harris defends well.
Harris stands up over Pietari, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pietari is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Harris frees his head nicely. Oh but Pietari has switched to an armbar! Harris is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
