Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Don Self (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Apolskis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Apolskis's choice of entrance music: I'll Be in the Sky. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Self!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Apolskis!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Self swats away the attempt to clinch by Apolskis.
Apolskis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Apolskis shoots for a takedown but Self saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Self has closed the distance and engaged Apolskis in a clinch.
Self has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Self drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Apolskis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Apolskis slows down the pace here.
Apolskis gets underhooks to prevent Self's takedown attempt.

Apolskis pulls guard.
Self trying to control the position from guard on top but Apolskis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Self throwing strikes but missing.

Self stands and steps away. Apolskis gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Apolskis darts in trying to clinch

and Self counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Apolskis's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Self is looking to work some ground and pound but Apolskis has wrist control.
Apolskis controls Self momentarily but Self frees himself.

Apolskis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Self trying to control the position from guard on top but Apolskis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Self is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Apolskis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Self is one step ahead there.
Self wants to control from the top but Apolskis keeps moving.
Self slips nicely into half guard.
Self prevents Apolskis from improving his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Self stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Apolskis to get to his feet.
Self lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Apolskis rushes Self and presses him up against the cage.
Self tries to circle away but Apolskis has him pinned against the cage.
Apolskis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Self just stands there and leans against the cage.
Don Self has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Apolskis.
Self is trying to force a seperation but Apolskis has the dominant position.
Apolskis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Self walks away with a smile on his face. Apolskis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Apolskis tries for a takedown but Self circles away easily

and Self decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Apolskis's guard.
Self slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Apolskis keeping moving, preventing Self from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Self gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Apolskis has his takedown stuffed

and Self counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Apolskis!
Apolskis looks gassed!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Apolskis tries to improve his position but Self has taken his back! Self has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Apolskis tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Self pushes Apolskis away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Don Self!
