The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BEMFORT is trying hard to land a takedown here. Monoriku sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A head kick from Monoriku lands but BEMFORT takes it in his stride.

It looks like VITOR BEMFORT has been cut.
Monoriku lands with a kick to the temple. BEMFORT shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
BEMFORT keeps the fight on the outside.

BEMFORT shoots in for a takedown but Monoriku shows good takedown defense.
BEMFORT changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Monoriku tries to avoid it but BEMFORT manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Monoriku to the ground. Monoriku escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for VITOR BEMFORT. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A head kick lands from Monoriku that sends BEMFORT to the canvas. BEMFORT tries to scramble back to his feet but Monoriku brings him back down into side control.

BEMFORT is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
BEMFORT tries to bench press Monoriku off him but Monoriku keeps the position.
Oh BEMFORT is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Monoriku cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Monoriku cracks BEMFORT with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Monoriku fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

BEMFORT seems to have got his legs back now.

Monoriku is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, BEMFORT has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Monoriku can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as BEMFORT is looking to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
BEMFORT is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Monoriku has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of BEMFORT's face.
Monoriku is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. BEMFORT can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Monoriku quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Monoriku but it's paid off an BEMFORT is forced to tap! Nice work by Monoriku.
