And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Yakimoto!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yakimoto tries to clinch there but Pozak circles away.
Yakimoto slips a jab and a cross from Pozak.
Pozak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pozak swats away the attempt to clinch by Yakimoto.
Yakimoto throws a series of punches but Pozak moves out of range.
Yakimoto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Yakimoto tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pozak swats away the attempt to clinch by Yakimoto.
Pozak stuffs the takedown.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pozak shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Yakimoto is trying to defend but Pozak finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Pozak thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yakimoto wants to control but Pozak is keeping busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yakimoto is looking for a sweep. Pozak is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pozak tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Yakimoto.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Pozak stands up out of the half guard.
Yakimoto throws a sloppy head kick and Pozak moves out of range easily.
Yakimoto throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pozak.
The fight stays on the outside here - Yakimoto looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Yakimoto moves in looking to clinch but Pozak pushes him off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Yakimoto has managed to clinch.
Yakimoto tries for a takedown but Pozak manages to get underhooks.
Magaki Pozak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Yakimoto.
Yakimoto looks gassed!

Pozak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Yakimoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Pozak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pozak lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Yakimoto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Yakimoto gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Pozak counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Pozak stops a takedown attempt from Yakimoto.
Pozak comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Pozak jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yakimoto walks away with a smile on his face. Pozak gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

No joy there for Pozak, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Pozak counters with a three punch combo that has Yakimoto backing up. Yakimoto nods at Pozak to acknowledge the strikes.

and Pozak counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pozak.
Magaki Pozak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Yakimoto.

Pozak pulls guard.
Pozak trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Pozak seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Pozak scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Pozak fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Pozak manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Yakimoto shoots in but no luck this time.

and Pozak holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pozak wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pozak looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yakimoto is one step ahead there.
Pozak wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Yakimoto manages to pass to side control.
Yakimoto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Yakimoto is nestled in close to Pozak, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Yakimoto stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

and Pozak counters with a three punch combo that has Yakimoto backing up. Yakimoto nods at Pozak to acknowledge the strikes.
Yakimoto fails with the takedown
and Pozak counters with an outside leg kick.
Pozak dodges the punch combination from Yakimoto.
Pozak moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Pozak shoots for a double leg takedown but Yakimoto sprawls well. He's pushed Pozak's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Pozak holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Pozak is trying to drag Yakimoto to the mat but Yakimoto just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Magaki Pozak dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Yakimoto has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pozak uses from the top position.
Pozak slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Yakimoto wants to sweep here but Pozak controlling him for the moment.

Pozak controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Yakimoto manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pozak manages to get himself to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yakimoto wants to stand but Pozak is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pozak looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yakimoto is one step ahead there.
Yakimoto looking to pass the guard.
Pozak has control of Yakimoto's left arm, preventing Yakimoto from doing any damage.
Pozak wants to stand up but Yakimoto is controlling him.

Yakimoto connects with a couple of short punches.

Yakimoto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Pozak seems keen to control Yakimoto's posture.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pozak takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Yakimoto closes the distance but Pozak moves to the side

and Pozak counters by clinching up.

Yakimoto gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pozak regains guard.

Yakimoto is looking to stand up but Pozak won't let him.
Yakimoto throws a big right hand that misses.

Pozak preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Yakimoto wants to control from the top but Pozak keeps moving.
Yakimoto wants to get up but he can't break Pozak's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kenji Yakimoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Magaki Pozak is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Pozak blocks an elbow strike.

I would just about give that final round to Kenji Yakimoto.
Well Pozak has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
