PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jorge St Piere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stout has chosen Stranglehold as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jorge St Piere has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jorge St Piere!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sammy Stout!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Piere tries a low kick but Stout avoids it.
Stout changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. St Piere tries to avoid it but Stout manages to keep hold of a leg and drag St Piere to the ground. St Piere escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Stout counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Stout.
Stout is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Stout decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in St Piere's guard.
Stout postures up.
Stout tries to free his leg and advance position but St Piere is retaining full guard.
Stout postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
St Piere wants to stand but Stout is controlling the position.
Stout not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Stout has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. St Piere is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
St Piere wants to take a breather but Stout is having none of it.
Stout makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stout.
St Piere lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Stout utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

St Piere pushes Stout off and scrambles back to his feet.

Stout tries to keep at a distance but St Piere has taken the fight into the clinch.

St Piere has Stout pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. St Piere pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Stout tumbling to the mat - St Piere dives into Stout's guard.
Stout throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

St Piere got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stout has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, St Piere has managed to get both his arms back between Stout's legs - danger averted.

St Piere is pushing down on Stout's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stout is fighting to maintain full guard but St Piere has managed to sneak the leg through.

St Piere seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stout does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Stout stands up over St Piere, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
St Piere has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

St Piere pushes Stout off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Stout moves into the clinch successfully.
St Piere tries for a takedown but Stout manages to get underhooks.

St Piere tries to land a front kick but Stout steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

and Stout counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Stout throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as St Piere works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Stout throws a strike but St Piere rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sammy Stout comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stout has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
