PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chingis Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, You Can't Bring Me Down by Suicidal Tendencies. Austin Powers will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Austin Powers!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan moves in looking to clinch but Powers pushes him off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Powers.
Chan lands a head kick. Powers smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Chan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fighters circling - Powers throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Powers misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Powers works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Powers works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Chan is controlling Powers's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Chan makes his way to full guard, as Powers worked for a kimura.

That was a close round but I would say that Chingis Chan will probably get the nod.

Chan moves in looking to clinch but Powers pushes him off.
Powers ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chan moves away.
Chan wants to clinch.

Chan wants to clinch up but Powers keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Powers does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Chan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Powers avoids it.

Powers gets control of Chan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Powers will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Powers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chan defends it easily.

Powers has an Americana. Chan didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Powers is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Powers hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
